Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They allow the website to remember information about your visit, such as whether you are logged in.
2. How StatusKeep Uses Cookies
StatusKeep uses a minimal, privacy-first approach to cookies. We use only the cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the Service. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.
3. Cookies We Use
Session Cookie (Essential)
We use a single, essential session cookie to keep you authenticated while you use the Service.
| Cookie Name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
better-auth.session_token | Keeps you logged in to your StatusKeep account | Essential / Authentication | Session (expires on logout or browser close) or up to 30 days if "Remember me" is selected |
This cookie is set by StatusKeep directly (a first-party cookie). It contains a cryptographically signed token that identifies your authenticated session. It does not contain your password or any sensitive personal data.
What This Cookie Does Not Do
- It does not track you across other websites
- It is not shared with advertising networks
- It is not used to build a profile of your browsing behavior
- It does not contain personally identifiable information beyond a session identifier
4. Cookies We Do Not Use
StatusKeep does not use:
- Analytics cookies — We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar third-party analytics tools that set cookies
- Advertising cookies — We do not use cookies for ad targeting or retargeting
- Social media cookies — We do not embed social media tracking widgets that set cookies
- Performance cookies — We do not use third-party performance monitoring tools that set cookies
5. Legal Basis for Using Cookies
The session cookie is strictly necessary for the Service to function. Without it, you cannot remain logged in or access your account. Under the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR, strictly necessary cookies do not require consent because they are essential to provide a service explicitly requested by the user.
If you are located in the EU, EEA, or UK, our use of the session cookie is lawful under Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR (processing necessary for the performance of a contract) and the "strictly necessary" exemption under the ePrivacy Directive.
6. Managing Cookies
Because we only use a strictly necessary authentication cookie, disabling or deleting it will prevent you from staying logged in to StatusKeep. You will need to log in again each time you visit.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
You can also delete the StatusKeep session cookie at any time by logging out of the Service, which immediately invalidates your session token.
7. Changes to This Policy
We will notify you of any material changes to this Cookie Policy by email or by posting a notice on the Service. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised.
If we ever introduce new types of cookies (for example, for analytics), we will update this policy and, where required by law, obtain your consent before setting those cookies.
